The national forecaster issued a Status Red weather warning for Co. Cork as Storm Ellen approached late on Wednesday. Met Eireann strongly continue to advise that people stay well clear of all coastal areas as severely strong, destructive winds for coastal areas remain forecast.
Met Eireann warned that the south and southwest of the country would see ‘severe and destructive winds’ across during last night and into this morning with heavy rain covering the entire country from late on Wednesday evening.
It’s understood that a number of properties in the region lost power overnight.
