Storm Erik moves away, but weather warning remains in place

Storm Erik lashed the country with strong winds and heavy rainfall over the last 48 hours, and though stormy conditions are beginning to die down, a weather warning remains in place.

A Status Yellow warning is now in effect for counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, and Clare. Strong winds, with gusts of up to 110km/h, are expected across these counties. The warning will remain in place until 7pm.

Heavy showers are also forecast for the afternoon, though the weather is predicted to become drier towards late evening.

The working week will begin dry and sunny, with temperatures reaching 11C at times.

The outlook is for a more settled weather pattern during the coming week, with long sunny spells throughout the day.
