Two Southampton FC supporters have been detained by police after it was uncovered that they were caught making gestures that mocked the death of Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala.
According to The Daily Mail newspaper, the pair were detained by police after they were spotted on CCTV footage making airplane gestures towards the Cardiff City fans during Saturday’s match.
The Daily Mail say the pair woo could face a three year ban from St Mary’s Stadium, were held by police and ejected from the stadium after they were caught making the sick gestures.
Meanwhile in a statement Southampton FC have said they have been made aware of the incident and they currently assisting authorities in their investigations.
They also say that the club will not tolerate any such behaviour from their fans and have confirmed they will take the appropriate steps to ban the pair.
The sickening gestures came as the two clubs met in a Premier League match just days after the Cardiff City record signing was discovered amongst the wreckage of the Malibu Piper plane that crashed into the English Channel off the coast of Guernsey.
