Storm Eunice: Motorists advised to be extra vigilant as the country sees its first wintry weather of 2022

Motorists are advised to be extremely careful this morning as Ireland sees its first snowfall of 2022. The national weather forecaster predicts blizzards and snowfalls will crisscross the country for much of the day.

Met Eireann warned Storm Eunice could be a troublesome and dangerous event with potential blizzards on the way.

The storm is seeing blizzards, torrential rains and damaging winds, and people are urged to plan accordingly.

Forecasters issued a weather advisory last night, noting it could create numerous hazards for motorists and homeowners.

The weather alert is in effect until at least 3pm today. Met Eireann say people need to be extra careful on the roads as the storms pass throughout the country.
