A storm is coming.
Met Éireann has issued a national status orange warning due to expected high winds. Counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo will bear the brunt of the weather onslaught.
The warning will remain in effect from 8am this morning until 8am Thursday morning. Stormy conditions are also expected overnight, reaching a crescendo throughout Wednesday.
Southerly winds will change to a westerly direction later today, and will reach gale force in exposed areas. On Wednesday, these winds will bring gusts 100 to 130 km/hr.
There’s also likely to be some falls of sleet or snow on hills in the north, and 70ft high waves out at sea.
It’s going to be a rough couple of days weather wise, so be prepared.
