Storm Hannah: Ireland to be battered by strong gales and heavy rain as Storm Hannah takes hold

We may have experienced some beautiful weather over Easter but that’s set to change dramatically from Friday night as Storm Hannah moves in across the country.

Strong and even gale-force winds with heavy rain is forecast to hit with particular emphasis placed on the southeast of the country.

Stormy conditions have been predicted for much of the southeast from late afternoon on Friday through to at least midday on Saturday afternoon.

Met Eireann, the national weather forecaster has issued the following for now but a Status Orange weather warning is more than likely to be issued before Storm Hannah takes hold:
“Early on Friday night will west and will be very windy or stormy in Munster and Connacht, especially in coastal areas with very strong, gusty west to northwest winds.

“Strong, gusty northwest winds will extend to all areas later in the night and rain will clear eastwards from most areas. Lowest temperatures of 3C to 6C.”

People are asked to be careful while out and about, especially on the roads in the inclement weather and to share this with their friends.
