29 people are now confirmed dead following the worst flooding event on record in the city of New York.
Both New York and New Jersey have declared states of emergency.
Speaking to the nation, US President Joe Biden said that ‘climate crisis is here,’ and that ‘we must better prepare.’
Mr. Biden’s concern about climate change contrasts with the attitude of the disgraced, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump, who referred to climate change as ‘mythical,’ ‘ a hoax,’ ‘mythical,’ and ‘non-existent.’
