In what is being deemed the worst storm in US history, Storm Jonas has claimed 29 lives along the East Coast. A full 4 feet of snow was dumped on Washington, New York and Chicago.
There’s a major alert issued along the East coast with a various states of emergency issued in towns and counties that have endured the worst of the blizzard.
Meanwhile, here, Met Eireann have issued a yellow weather warning for Ireland from tomorrow. The tail end of Storm Jonas is making its way here across the Atlantic. Strong winds and heavy rainfall are due to hit the Emerald Isle tomorrow morning.
Met Eireann’s Joanna Donnelly said conditions will deteriorate from tomorrow morning.
“We’re in for a rather unsettled week, with heavy rain expected and strong winds at times too. We’re looking at possibly having warnings issued for heavy rain and strong winds on Tuesday which will spread across the country.”
“Tuesday’s heavy rain and strong winds are expected to continue into Wednesday.”
The rain will clear on Wednesday night, as temperatures could plummet to -2, with frosty and icy patches developing in many areas.
