Stormy evening ahead and unsettled weather expected this week, but early indications point to a warm and sunny June Bank Holiday weekend

Met Eireann is predicting a period of stormy weather on Monday evening and the weather to remain rather unsettled this week, but there’s a strong possibility that the upcoming June Bank Holiday weekend will be bright and warm, with highs of 22C at times.

Some parts of the country will see thunder and hail throughout Monday evening, accompanied by heavy showers. The severe weather will ease overnight, giving way to a bright and mostly dry Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday are forecast to be warm but showery, but the weather is expected to improve significantly from Friday onwards, as early indications point to a very mild and sunny weekend, with temperatures rising to 21-22C.
