Luas staff will stage further strike action over Easter.
Dublin Luas services will not run on Easter Sunday or Bank Holiday Monday.
Strike action is already announced for March 8 and St Patrick’s day.
Transdev, the Luas operator, said the move was a serious escalation of the current dispute in which Luas staff are seeking pay increases of more than 50%.
Gerry Madden from Transdev is condemning the action, saying it will have a serious effect on the 1916 centenary commemorations:
“The city’s been planning such a great series of events around this and it would have been something we would have all been proud of.
“It will still happen, Dublin survives, it gets by, but the Luas is an important part of Dublin. It is an important part of the network and we should be involved and I sincerely hope we will still get to that point somehow someway.”
