The city of Bristol will soon pioneer an initiative to promote public health among its citizens and visitors.
Millennium Square and Anchor Square, both on Bristol’s harbourside, will go smoke-free on a voluntary pilot basis. This follows a suggestion by former health minister Lord Darzi, who said that London and other UK cities should ban smoking in public spaces and parks.
Some worldwide cities like New York, Toronto and Hong Kong have already banned smoking in key outdoor locations. Bristol will pioneer the initiative in the UK.
