Student accommodation fraud pair fail to even show up to court in Dublin

A man and woman who were due to be sentenced for their roles in a student accommodation fraud in south Dublin have failed to appear in court.

Michael Ward, 33, and Melissa Collins, 26, were scheduled to attend Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, but the court was informed that neither of them turned up, reports RTE.

Judge Martin Nolan subsequently issued a bench warrant for their arrest.

Ward, of Moyne Park, Moyne Road, Baldoyle, had earlier pleaded guilty to stealing €1,800 from a bank account between 9 September 2022 and 18 September 2022 at an unknown location within the State, reports RTE.

Collins, of Cherryfield Walk, Hartstown, admitted to stealing €600 from a bank account at an unknown location within the State on 27 July 2022.

The District Court previously heard that the case involves an accommodation fraud targeting several international students in south Dublin, reports RTE.
