The citizens of the secretive state of North Korea are getting a taste of European-style debauchery, as the country celebrates its first ever beer festival.
Held in the country’s capital Pyongyang, people were treated to a selection of beers, among them the local beverage Taedonggang Beer, named after the Taedong River which flows through the city.
The festival took place near the river, and five hundred ‘special’ guests were offered free beer for a two-hour period. Then, the general public were allowed in. Barmaids dressed in air hostess-like uniforms tended the tables.
The festivities are set to last for a whopping 20 days, too, so there will be plenty lager flowing around.
