There was good news for those who pay their TV licence this week as proposals to extend the fees to laptops, computers and tablets were scrapped by the Communications Minister Minister Denis Naughten.
The highly controversial proposals which were submitted back in March, it were shelved after it was deemed unfeasible given that such a law would be difficult to impose.
It was previously suggested by Mr Naughten that all those who own electronic devices would charged an annual fee of €160.
However after a consultation with his department Minister Naughten confirmed that the proposal will not go ahead after it received widespread criticism.
