‘Swiftie flu’ – Health experts claim their have advice for concert and festival goers to avoid Covid

In response to concerns that the “Swiftie Flu” had spread throughout the nation during the superstar’s three-date stint in Ireland, Irish health officials have issued Covid-19 advise to concertgoers and festival attendees this summer, reports The Mirror.

The HPSC released its most recent Covid-19 report a few days before Taylor Swift took the stage for her sold-out mega concerts at the Aviva Stadium, drawing in almost 200,000 Swifties to the location for the length of the show. The alert said that the virus was still spreading at moderate to high levels in Ireland.

Many Swifties who attended her concerts around the nation reported having Covid-19 symptoms afterward. Some even advised individuals who went to the gigs to be tested because of claims that the virus was spreading widely, reports The Mirror.

A HSE spokesperson told the Irish Mirror that as revellers get ready for a series of concerts and festivals in the capital, they should “use their own judgement on how to protect themselves in public places”—although they did not tie their advice to any particular concerts or shows. They also directed us to additional advice here.

According to the most recent HPSC report on COVID-19 in Ireland, which was released on June 25, the number of hospitalised patients is on the rise. Data from this day indicate an increase of 16 percent (+64) compared to the previous week and 103 percent (+233) compared to the 14 days earlier, reports The Mirror.
