The Tánaiste and Labour party leader Joan Burton has boldly claimed that she and her fellow party colleagues will be re-elected to Government next spring.

The Tánaiste believes the Irish public will opt to vote for the Labour party next March because a government with the party would be bad for the entire country. Mrs Burton also believes the Labour should be re-elected because it would vital to keep them in government and point Ireland in the right direction. Although she does not expect the election to be held until the spring, Ms Burton said the Labour will be ready for it whenever it comes. The Tánaiste’s comments come after she and her fellow Labour party colleagues met in Co Wicklow recently to discuss an election strategy ahead of the next Dáil term.

Ms Burton told her party colleagues that the future of Ireland depended on Labour getting re-elected. The Tánaiste said: “We’ll be ready for it, ready for the first time in our history to return to Government for a second term.” “Let there be no doubt – we are going to do it. “More than that – we have to do it. She added: “Not for our party’s sake, important as though that it, but for our country’s sake.”
