Tanaiste Leo Varadkar suggests that a longer delay to reopening indoor dining may be required

Business owners in the hospitality sector across the country could be potentially waiting longer to reopen their doors as the Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has suggested that a longer delay may be required.

Speaking to RTE News, the Tanaiste said that although no decision has yet been made and everything still very much remains up in the air a longer delay may be necessary.

Varadkar told RTE News that the Government would find it be very difficult to ignore NPHET’s advice as the Government has listened carefully to their guidance over the course of the reopening of the country.

He also stated that it would be very unlikely that the Government would ignore NPHET’s advice.

The Tanaiste’s comments come as many business owners across the country have been left in limbo over the scheduled reopening on July 5th.

It is believed that NPHET and other scientists have become concerned over the rise in Delta variant cases in recent weeks.
