Tanaiste says current restrictions could remain in place until the most vulnerable are vaccinated

The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has indicated that current Covid-19 restrictions could remain in place until the most vulnerable and healthcare workers are vaccinated.

Speaking on RTE’s Morning Ireland programme, the Tanaiste said there was a case for keeping current restrictions in place until the most vulnerable in society were vaccinated.

However Varadkar did warn that if such a scenario were to happen measures would have to be put in place in order to make it sustainable.

He added that although current Level 5 restrictions are set to be renewed on January 12th, he doesn’t envisage them being relaxed as cases are unlikely to have fallen enough for that to happen.
