Tanaiste says there’s still a long way to go despite flattening of projected cases

The Tánaiste Simon Coveney has said that there is still a long way to go in the fight against Covid-19.

Speaking to RTÉ’s Claire Byrne Live, Coveney said that the country must not get complacent and continue to implement the right measures to stem the spread of the virus.

The Tánaiste’s comments come after latest data showed that an increase in cases has fallen to 15% from 33% in the past few weeks.

Coveney said that Ireland will overcome the virus, but it is key that the public follow the necessary advice.

He added that around 5,000 tests are being carried out daily and the figures are above other countries in terms of capita.
