Tanaiste told that Labour party will cease to exist at next election

The grim prediction was made by Labour TDs and senators at a Labour Parliamentary meeting. They spoke openly of their fears about the party’s ultimate fate due to the water charges shambles.

And Enda Kenny also heard exasperated opinions from dozens of Fine Gael TDs, frustrated at the lack of progress and the deepening crisis surrounding Irish Water and the water charges.

Sources said that Joan Burton looked ‘worried’ and ‘taken aback’ when she realized the deep level of concern among party ranks, while Enda Kenny calmly listened to all the opinions and said that ‘the issue will be fixed.’

The core problem remains that the people of Ireland have had enough of austerity measures which never affect those who instigate them in the first place, the USC, new taxes, etc.

The water charges now are certainly proving a tax too far for most, and coupled with the shambolic implementation of Irish Water, it is an issue which might very well bring the whole Government down.
