Taoiseach condemns ‘oddballs’ responsible for sending suspicious package by stating they should ‘Come after us, but not our staff or our families’

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has condemned those responsible for sending a suspicious package to the Department of Health calling them ‘oddballs’.

Speaking to RTÉ News, following Monday’s security incident, Mr Varadkar said that he was main concern was for staff working at Government departments as they are mainly tasked with handling such packages.

Mr Varadkar who also said he is confused as to why such people would send such packages, reminded those responsible that they were putting ordinary working people such as receptionists and security personnel at risk as it is not politicians who open the packages.

The Taoiseach who stated that such people were ‘oddballs’, added that if such people want to target us (politicians) they should come after us but not our staff or our families.
