Some 4 days after the attacks on a Catholic church in Sri Lanka which killed several hundred Christians including dozens of children, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar finally bowed to pressure today and tweeted his condolences to the people of Sri Lanka.
The vast majority of people were shocked and dismayed at Leo Varadkar’s persistent failure to express sympathy before now.
Many world leaders had expressed solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka and commentators in this country took to online platforms to question why the Taoiseach had not joined them.
The Liberal opened an online book of condolence here for all those wishing to send messages of sympathy to the families of those who died.
