Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says that there will be no general election this side of Christmas

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has confirmed today that there will be no general election before Christmas.

Mr. Varadkar quoted Brexit as a source of uncertainty, so he said that it would be ‘in the best interest of the country’ to not hold an election at this time.

The Taoiseach had previously said that he believed May 2020 would be the ‘right time’ for an election, once the Brexit issue was resolved one way or another.
