Taoiseach says J&J vaccine will be a game changer as vaccine could arrive in Ireland in April

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that the Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine could be a potential game changer in Ireland’s Ireland’s vaccination programme.

Speaking to Seacht Lá on TG4, the Taoiseach said the approval of the vaccine could significantly speed up the country’s vaccination programme.

Martin told the programme that there will be a significant uptick in supply from April and there’s a chance that a large number of people will be vaccinated by the end of the summer.

He also said that the over 70s will be vaccinated by mid May and if the AstraZeneca vaccine is approved for those aged 65 to 69 they would also be vaccinated by the same period.
