Taoiseach says the Government is considering clampdown on takeaway alcohol drinks

The Government are reportedly set to consider clamping down on the sale of takeaway alcoholic drinks.

Speaking about the issue, the Taoiseach said that he plans to discuss the matter with the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee in the coming days.

It is understood that the Government has become concerned with footage which shows a group of people drinking on the streets of Dublin over the weekend.

Although no official decision has yet been made it is believed that any proposed changes would require a draft legislation from the Department of Health which would then have to be approved by the Cabinet.
