The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that the country is making great progress in the fight against Covid-19.
Speaking after he received his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, Martin said that the public have responded well to the guidelines introduced to tackle the spread of the virus.
Martin said that he felt great after getting his first dose and he believes that we’re going to have a good summer if the progress we’ve made continues.
The Taoiseach said that restrictions combined with the vaccination programme is helping as the number of hospitalisations and deaths have significantly fallen in recent weeks.
He added we’re on the right track and I’m looking forward to the country opening up over the coming months ahead.
