Teacher still in hiding since March fears for his life after showing pupils a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad sparking angry protests from the Muslim community

A teacher at Batley Grammar School in Yorkshire sparked a major Muslim demonstration back in March this year after he showed his pupils a cartoon of the a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad during a religious studies class on March 22nd. The cartoon is believed to be the cartoon published by the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. That publication led to the violent murders of 12 people and leaving 11 injured.

A series of angry protests were staged outside the school by the Muslim community.

The teacher was suspended and moved into police protection after protestors took to the school to demand the teacher be sacked.

Following an investigation on the allegation of “causing deliberate offence” , the teachers suspension was lifted, but he continues to remain in hiding with his family and has refused to return to the school over fears for his life, reports the Metro.
