Teenage thug in Dublin attacked innocent man aged 52 over ‘suspicious’ Facebook message, court hears

A 17-yr-old boy is to face the Circuit Court charged with aggravated burglary after attacking a man in his own home over a Facebook message that was wrongly interpreted as suspicious, reports Breaking News.

The boy, who cannot be named due to his age, appeared before the Dublin Children’s Court on Monday, reports Breaking News.

The court heard that the teenager and others entered the home of the 52-year-old man and carried out an assault on him based on a belief — later found to be entirely unfounded — that a Facebook message he had sent was suspicious in nature.

The innocent man was subjected to the attack in his own home, reports Breaking News.

The matter was sent forward to the Circuit Court given the serious nature of the aggravated burglary charge.

The case is the latest in a series of incidents involving young people carrying out violent attacks based on misunderstandings or false accusations made through social media, reports Breaking News.
