Teenager arrested and questioned over Cork hit and run incident is released without charge




A teenager who was arrested and questioned over a hit and run incident in Co Cork, on Monday has been released without charge.

It is understood the 17-year-old male was arrested after a two-year-old boy was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in the Castle Meadows estate off the Skehard Road, in the Mahon area of the city, on Monday afternoon.

The boy who was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries, has since been transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin, where he currently remains in serious but stable condition.

Gardaí say the youth was questioned in relation to the incident, but has since been released without charge.

They added that a file is being prepared for the Director of public prosecutions.
