Hundreds of concerned citizens have rallied on Sunday evening in the County Roscommon town of Ballaghaderreen following a serious assault on a teen boy in the community last week.
At least 430 protestors gathered at the car park in St Nathy’s Cathedral in the town at 5pm before making their way down to the garda station, which is only manned part time, at the other end of town, carrying lighted candles, Shannonside.ie reported.
Citizens of the town have gone viral on social media expressing their concerns and outrage at the incident involving the teenage boy, and regarding other concerns about a recent spike in anti-social behaviour.
One local lady speaking to citizen journalist Philip Dwyer, spoke about how there is a large number of young, migrant males loitering around the town at night, full video below.
In March 2017, Ballaghaderreen became an Emergency Reception and Orientation Centre (EROC) for hundreds of refugees from the Syrian Civil War.
In the following months the town saw numerous protests against this migrant plantation but locals fears were dismissed and derided by the national, legacy media and ignored by local and national politicians.
With tensions in the small community now skyrocketing it is unlikely these concerns will be so easily silenced by the political/media establishment in the country should the incident prove to be linked to migrant planters.
