These are tumultuous times in the Republic, and Tesco staff are now jumping right into the industrial action bandwagon.
Trade union Mandate has warned that Tesco staff are likely to strike if management goes ahead with unilateral pay cuts recently announced for longest-serving staff.
Mandate general secretary John Douglas said that “The workers in Tesco decided that they would vote for industrial action,”
“We have a mandate for industrial action. We’ve served notice on the company that if they attack our members on the 16th of May, that our members will be on strike right across this country.”
