Carpets worth €85k have been laid at Dublin’s Mansion House, in a move which has rightfully sparked controversy.
On top of the €85,139 spent on them, a further 4k were used for “consultancy” on the items.
According to the council, the rooms in question are “used on a regular basis” and they are not “museum rooms.”
But the question of priorities was raised by Independent TD Finian McGrath. He said that “€90,000 would go a long way to funding a shelter or a house or two for people who are homeless. That money could be used to refurbish senior citizen complexes throughout the city.”
