The CEO of tobacco giant Philip Morris has predicted that cigarette sales may end in several markets within 10-15 years according to current projections.
Andre Calantzpoulos, who leads the company that produces Marlboro and other popular brands, told the Concordia Annual Summit that already 11.2 million consumers have switched to smoke-free alternative products according to Business Today.
Conceding that a smoke free future was not yet guaranteed, his predictions could prove accurate as millions of smokers across the world quit or convert to nicotine alternatives. This follows a global campaign against the tobacco industry, including tactics of heavy taxation and sales regulation.
