A higher rate of sick pay for those unemployed due to Covid-19 ends today.
The Extended Illness Pay (EIB), which is paid at €350 a week, was available to workers who had been told by a doctor to self-isolate or restrict movement.
If someone is diagnosed with Covid-19 or has been advised to self-isolate and has a medical certificate from their GP, they can still claim sickness benefit and, if qualified, be entitled to standard rate of €208 per week.
To receive the EIB, employees and self-employed must be absent from work due to Covid-19 and present a medical certificate from their general practitioner.
