The economy is on the floor but Irish politicians see yet another pay increase pushing salaries over €100,000




As much as state media try and overlook this story, the public need to know that Irish politicians are quids in this week after getting yet another pay rise.

A number of TDs across the country will see their salary being given a boost as latest round of pay rises kick in.

In a move that was approved by Cabinet, Civil Servants will be given a 2% increase in their pay as rates are restored to 2008 levels.

Under the new pay rise a TDs basic salary will rise €98,113 to €100,191,  whilst Senators will also get a boost as their salaries will rise to €70,134.

It is understood that the pay increase comes after it was agreed to reverse the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act.
