The Fans Game: Supporters voices heard with European Super League project left in tatters as all SIX English clubs pull out

There was an overwhelming victory for fans of football as the proposed European Super League has been left in tatters after all six English Premier League clubs have withdrawn from the league.

In an eventful 48 hours for the beautiful game, all English clubs have seemingly listened to those who are accredited for making the game special as they have backed away from proposals that rocked the football community around the world.

In a flurry of statements Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that they will no longer pursue the ambitious project that would have seen Europe’s elite competing in a closed off competition that has been criticised for being all about the money.

The proposed league which included the above mentioned six English clubs along with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan has seemingly no chance of getting off the ground as the Premier League clubs have listened to widespread public criticism and have decided to start proceedings to exit the competition.

It seems that the mass exodus got underway on Tuesday evening when Chelsea FC confirmed that they began proceedings to exit the proposed competition after listening to the opinions of fans and those within the wider footballing community.

The club’s decision also came on the back of a large protest outside Stamford Bridge before their Premier League match against Brighton on Tuesday evening.

The London club’s decision also seemingly led to Manchester City to quickly follow suit as the club confirmed via an official statement on their website that they were withdrawing from the competition.

Elsewhere both Arsenal and Tottenham also confirmed via their websites that they were withdrawing from the proposed league with both clubs saying they made a mistake and they apologise.

Meanwhile both Manchester United and Liverpool had said that they had listened to supporters, the British Government and stakeholders before deciding to withdraw from the league.

The decision of all six Premier League clubs has been welcomed by supporters and former players who have said the correct decision had been made.

However despite the decision of the six English clubs, it is not yet known whether or not clubs in Spain and Italy will formally withdraw from the league.

The proposed league had drawn widespread criticism given its uncompetitive nature that would have seen Europe’s richest clubs being guaranteed their place at the top table whilst earning vast amounts of revenue.
