Garda Commissioner Drew Harris has a sin to answer, literally, according to many on social media.
People have been outraged at horrendous footage (seen below) of two burly gardai throwing elderly poeple out of a Church in Athlone, Co Westmeath on Sunday morning while they were praying and sitting socially distanced apart from each other.
The disgusting footage shows a priest blatantly startled at the two garda members telling him that it’s time to close shop due to the ridiculous lockdown restrictions imposed on the Irish public.
Social media users are saying that they’ve lost all respect for gardai and that when this is all said and done that the “gardai’s reputation has been badly tainted and that decent people have utter contempt for the force now as a result’. Others are saying that the two gardai in question are absolute thugs who may well need a priest or a Mass said themselves one day if their own elderly mother dies or is dying. Some have called for the two to be docked a week’s pay, while others say that they’re bullies, cowards, pathetic and that they should be ashamed of themselves.
People are saying that the footage below is akin to that of penal times where Irish people met in secret to celebrate Mass.
