An inquest has heard that a man felt he was a failure when he came back to Dublin after retiring from teaching in Saudi Arabia because he couldn’t afford to buy a house in Ireland, reports The Mirror.
On October 6, 2022, Michael Gryphon, 66, a single man hailing from Foxrock, was reported missing to gardaí by family members who were worried when he was not answering his phone.
A severely decomposed body discovered in the water near Howth on October 21, 2022, was subsequently identified as Mr. Gryphon when dental records and DNA from his toothbrush and razor matched, according to a hearing held by the Dublin District Coroner’s Court on Tuesday.
“I’m not sure if it was depression but he was not himself,” said Catherine Noone, aunt of the deceased, reports The Mirror.
