The importance of learning CPR: Irish man praised for his quick thinking and brave actions after he saves a complete stranger who collapsed on an Indiana basketball court

In a truly remarkable story an Irish man living in Indiana has been praised for his heroics and quick thinking after he saved a complete strangers life.

The man of the moment Barry Moore has received great praise after he administered CPR to man who collapsed on a basketball court.

Mr Moore who has highlighted the importance of life saving classes bravely rescued his fellow man when he noticed the man lying on the ground whilst finishing his shift at work.

In a detailed Facebook post hero Barry describes the events that unfolded on that faithful evening, a modest Barry writes: “Last night, the craziest thing happened, one of those things where you think to yourself “it’ll never happen to me”… I was at work, getting ready to finish my shift when a man went into cardiac arrest on the basketball court, he collapsed and was unresponsive!”

“I ran for the AED, hooked it up to his chest and began CPR… After what must have been about 7/8 minutes of CPR and two shocks from the AED, his heart rate returned and I heard this man tell me “I’m here, I’m here”. Paramedics arrived shortly after and took him to hospital. They thanked me and told me that I had saved this man’s life, only then did I realize what had just happened!”

“The reason I am posting about this is to urge everyone to take a course in CPR, CFR or something similar! I took the CFR course back in 2012 and then again in 2014… Only for having done those, I would not have been able to help that man, a man who gets to see his wife and family again this morning!”
