The mother of a dead baby found in a garden has been tracked down by police

Police in the UK believe that they have found the mother of a newborn baby who was sadly found dead in a private Somerset garden.

Tragically, the baby’s body was found by a member of the public in the Victoria Quadrant in the coastal town of Weston-super-Mare.

Von and Somerset police immediately launched an urgent call for information after being called shortly before 9am on Saturday to the tragic incident.

Police said at the time that they treated the child’s death as inexplicable, however the baby’s mother has since been found and taken to the hospital.

According to the BBC, announcing the development, detective chief inspector Mike Buck said: “Earlier today we issued an appeal to locate the mother of a newborn baby, whose body was found in a private garden in Weston-super-Mare on Saturday morning.

“During the course of our enquiries, information has been received which has helped us locate who we believe is the baby’s mother. This woman has been taken immediately to hospital where she’ll receive the expert medical attention and professional support she needs.

“I’d like to thank the entire Weston-super-Mare community for their help and support during what’s been a difficult day for all involved.”
