New €20 notes with enhanced security features to prevent counterfeiting will go into circulation from tomorrow across the Eurozone. The European Central Bank have produced 4.3 billion of these new notes which will gradually replace the current €20 banknotes. The old notes still remain as legal tender.
A new window near the top of the hologram stripe becomes transparent when seen against the light, revealing a portrait of Europa, a figure from Greek mythology.
The ECB have already launched new €5 banknotes in May 2013 and €10 banknotes September 2014. A new €50 banknote is set to enter circulation in mid-2017.
