The number of tourists visiting Ireland has drastically fallen

The number of visitors to Ireland decreased by 5.1 percent in October compared to the same month in 2023, as reported by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), reports Breaking News.

Nonetheless, tourists are spending more during their time in the country, with expenditures reaching €534.3 million in October this year, marking a 3.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The majority of visitors originated from Great Britain, making up 32.6 percent of the total, followed by 21.7 percent from the United States and 8.1 percent from Germany, reports Breaking News.

The primary reason for traveling to Ireland was for holiday or leisure purposes, with 44.2 percent of visitors citing that as their motive.

In total, visitors spent 3.9 million nights in Ireland, which represents a decline of 2.1 percent when compared to October 2023.

The average duration of stay for overnight visitors from abroad was 7.1 nights, an increase from the average of 6.9 nights in October 2023, reports Breaking News.
