Tributes paid to woman (80s) who has sadly died in crash on M7 in Laois




A woman in her 80s has passed away following a car accident in County Laois, reports Breaking News.

First responders arrived at the scene of the crash on the M7 at Borris-in-Ossory around 4:15 PM on Thursday.

The incident took place at approximately 4:15 PM at Junction 21 of the eastbound M7 and involved two vehicles, reports Breaking News.

The elderly woman was the driver of one of these cars and was declared dead at the location.

Her remains have been transported to Portlaoise Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to occur.

The driver of the second vehicle, a woman in her 50s, was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore to receive treatment for injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening, reports Breaking News.

The eastbound lane of the M7 was shut to traffic, with detours set up between Junction 21 and Junction 18.

Garda forensic collision investigators were at the scene to conduct a technical investigation on Thursday evening.

Gardaí are requesting that any eyewitnesses to the incident come forward, reports Breaking News.
