The sculptor who designed the world famous Molly Malone statue has died aged 74




The death was announced today of the famous sculptor Jeanne Rynhart. She was 74 years old.

Her work included the statue of Molly Malone, which was unveiled in 1988 and is now located in front of the Dublin Tourist Office on Suffolk Street.

Jeanne Rynhart was born in Dublin and studied fine art at the National College of Art and Design. She graduated in 1969 and then moved to Coventry to continue his career.

In 1981 she returned to Bantry, Cork with her family.

There she founded her business called Rynhart Fine Art Bronze, where she worked for more than four decades.

Her work also includes statues of Annie Moore, found in Cobh and on Ellis Island in New York.
