The shocking legacy of successive, disdainful cabinets: Overcrowding has risen by 100% since 2008

In a truly revealing indictment of the inefficiency and blase attitude towards the health system sported by every government, it has emerged today that overcrowding has increased by 100% since 2008.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) recorded just over 9,300 patients as being languishing on trolleys last month, waiting for treatment or to be admitted.

Such figure is the highest ever recorded for a month of March.

According to the INMO, none of the plans or measures ever taken by the government have ever done anything to alleviate the issue of overcrowding.

A chronic shortage of beds and staff across all of the HSE continues to hamper care and compromising patients’ lives.
