The train wreck that is Irish Water continues to amuse and terrify at the same time. Fianna Fáil’s Barry Cowen now says that he is not opposed to people paying for water.
The party’s position or water charges has changed in numerous occasions, going from being completely opposed to them, then to ‘moderate charges,’ then off again, and so on.
The party’s leader, Micheal Martin, said only last week that “We said before the election we were against water charges. We didn’t want water charges. We wanted to abolish water charges.’
Be it as it may, water charges have long since become a farcical joke on a Government that has proven time and time again that its best interests lay far from the citizens of this country.
