Google and Facebook have announced that they will demand that workers be vaccinated against Covid-19 before going back to work on their U.S. campuses, while blaming case numbers increasing due to the spread of the Delta variant.
Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, said the policy will be rolled out in the US in the next couple of weeks before rolling out to 144,000 employees worldwide, including Ireland and the UK.
The Internet search engine group also said it would postpone the full reopening of its campuses until October 18 due to the spread of the Delta variant and delay the official return to work by a month and a half.
Many people fear that this could well be the start of things to come, with major tech firms demanding that all their employees be vaxxed, or ask for their vax identity before being hired.
