The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar said that there’s no secret plan to bring in a lockdown over Christmas or the New Year but we can’t rule anything out

Leo Varadkar claims that the government has no secret plan to lockdown the country after Christmas or in the early New Year but that nothing can be ruled off the table at this stage.

Varadkar said the government has no plans at this time to introduce a lockdown but that they’ll listen to NPHET and that their advice could see things differently as the weeks go on.

Earlier, the Tanaiste Leo Varadkar said that over the coming days there’s going to be daily covid case numbers that will scare people by how they are.

Varadkar, who is due to take over from Micheal Martin this time next year and become Taoiseach yet again, said that NPHET hopes that the high numbers will not result in people going to hospital or ICU in high numbers.

He then went on to say that the government cannot rule out another lockdown and that nothing is off the table at this stage.
