Covid-19: Portugal orders the closure of bars and restaurants for at least 14 days as the country fights the spread of the Omicron variant

Portugal has ordered the closure of bars and restaurants for at least 14 days as the country fights the spread of the Omicron variant.

Portugal is now also asking people to produce ‘health passes’ to stay at hotels and attend events.

All this despite one of the highest vaccination rates in the world, at 87%. It remains unclear what exactly it is that vaccines achieve or protect from.
