The Taoiseach fully accepts Minister for Agriculture Barry Cowen’s apology for drink driving

The newly appointed Taoiseach Micheal Martin has declared that he fully accepts the apology that was given in the Dail on Tuesday night by Minister for Agriculture Barry Cowen for drink driving.

According to RTE, a spokesperson for the Taoiseach said that it was “clear” that Minister Cowen “deeply regrets what happened”, and the Taoiseach “accepts that his remorse is genuine”.

However, many TDs are still demanding a further explanation as just how the incident occurred after the All-Ireland final in 2016.

Last night in the Dail, Cowen said that he made a “stupid, stupid mistake” and that he was “profoundly sorry”.
